So yesterday was my 30th birthday. Holy crap lol. I was sort of bummed to work on it, but when I got into work yesterday morning my manager caught me and she and several coworkers began singing happy birthday. There were cupcakes, balloons and flowers. Then a usually kinda grumpy customer came through the drive thru. Her dog really likes me, so because of that she's not as grumpy with me. She gave me several roses. Then I got a delivery from Cactus Flowers.. it was from my future mother in law. My fiance teased me and said that I have to sign for my gift he sent me, and that he wanted to see my reaction. Goddess knows what he sent me, lol.
Couple weeks back I rescued a pigeon. I was walking up the walkway to my front door when a bunch of pigeons scattered except for one. I thought it was dead till I got close. He was on the ground, on his back, flapping frantically. When he was righted, if he tried to fly he'd wind up on his back again, wing sticking up. So I frantically went in, threw my purse down, grabbed a towel and a shoebox, and scooped him up. He was too big and active for the box, so I had to use my parrot's carrier. I put him in it, gave him a bowl of water and started searching for a rescue. I called several places and ultimately, wound up posting on Facebook, on the Micacoo rescue page where I got help. A woman, now my friend, offered to take the bird from the vet I had sent him off to. She named the bird Rowan and gives me updates. I can visit him anytime. It's doubtful he'll be able to be released, but now I find myself looking at pigeons differently. They're smart, and they deserve to be helped, too.
Sketching and having a beer, currently. I got a new internal hard drive, 2 TB. I can't wait to slap that sucker in and unleash all 4 gigs of RAM.
